Bryan Rawls began violin studies at the age of 5 with Barbara Strauss in Mansfield CT. His family moved to Florence SC when he was 8 where Bryan would receive direction from Dr. Sherry Woods until college. Under the direction of Dr. Woods, Bryan would participate in the Jr. All-State Orchestra in 6th- 8th grade, All-State Orchestra all of his high school career, and was concertmaster of both the 2 and 5 week South Carolina Governor’s School of the Arts programs. He also won the inaugural Florence All-City Concerto competition, performing the first movement of the Symphonie Espagnole by Édouard Lalo.

Bryan attended the University of South Carolina where he first studied with Ryan Kho, a former student of Dorothy DeLay. As an undergraduate, Bryan began performing with the South Carolina Philharmonic Orchestra, the Augusta Symphony, the Long Bay Symphony and also performed with the Piccolo Spoleto Orchestra at Spoleto Festival USA in Charleston SC. He also performed in masterclasses with Vadim Gluzman and Anne Akiko Meyers, receiving high praise from each. Bryan Rawls is a 2009 Magna cum laude graduate of the University of South Carolina, receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance.

Bryan continued his studies at the University of South Carolina as a graduate student, receiving violin lessons from renowned violinist and conductor Dr. Donald Portnoy as well as studying viola from Dr. Constance Gee. After receiving his Master’s Certificate in Music Performance in 2010, Bryan relocated to Raleigh NC. He was soon performing with the Fayetteville Symphony, North Carolina Opera, and Carolina Philharmonic where he still performs today.
